Apple Inc. is moving forward with self-driving car technology. The company aims to build a passenger vehicle by future years, which may incorporate the company’s own battery technology. The car can be known by the name of Apple Car or iCar.
The iPhone manufacturer’s automotive efforts, known as Project Titan, have moved unevenly since 2014 when it first began designing its vehicle from scratch. At one point, Apple withdrew the effort to focus on the software and regain its goals. Doug Field, an Apple veteran who worked at Tesla Inc., returned to oversee the project in 2018 and fired 190 people from the team in 2019.

Apple Car’s Bettery
For the car’s battery, Apple plans to use a unique “monocell” design, which lifts up individual cells in the battery and eliminates the pouches and modules that hold the battery material Freeing up space inside the battery pack.
Apple’s design means that more active materials can be packed inside the battery, allowing the car to potentially travel longer distances. Apple is also investigating a chemistry for a battery called LFP, or lithium iron phosphate.
