Self Healing Phone Screen- fix cracks within 20 minutes
Hi friends! When your smartphone slips or falls out of hand, it can be tragic for anyone to see the screen fall to the ground and pay the expensive repair bill. Off course this is the case of every users. But now, tech companies including Apple have been working towards making strong and self healing phone screens, may be this technology is in Apple iPhone 13. Also, companies are spending millions of dollars to get the result but there is no concrete result yet. However, researchers in South Korea now feel they have achieved significant success in this regard.
How does self healing phone screen work?
Self-healing glass discovered by accident. Japanese researchers say they have developed a new type of glass that can heal itself from cracks and breakage. Glass made of low-weight polymer, called “polyether-course”, can be cured when pressed together by hand without the need for high heat to melt the material.
Self repair scree features
Interestingly, in self healing phone research project, researchers are using linseed oil as microcapsules to fill the screen cracks. Currently, researchers in this research confined to the laboratory have proved that when the phone screen is cracked, transparent linseed oil is released, which hardens through the cracks and repairs the broken screen within 20 minutes to 95 percent Does.
Although the process may take hours in a normal way, the process can be accelerated by hot temperatures and ultraviolet light.
According to Dr. Yong-Chae Jung, Center Head, who is leading this study at the Institute of Advanced Composite Materials at the Career Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), it eats a polymer bilayer film (PBF). It is a combination of two layers which together form a single material. The topmost surface consists of linseed oil microcapsules while the lower surface is made of materials like Kach used in phones, tablets and other gadgets, which the CPI eats.
Apple Self healing Screen material
Korean researchers are not the first or only researchers to deal with the problem of broken screens. The tech giant Apple has also hired its experts in this work. In October, Apple also patented its self healing screen technology of phone. The Apple’s proposed technology will use an elastometer material.
